This is one of my favorite messages I want to share with you. It is from my upcoming book, “Natural Hospital Birth: The Best of Both Worlds” coming out March 15. Often times, I find partners are lost for words as their loved one is in labor. Here is a gentle reminder of what we want to hear most.
The Power of “I Love You”: A Note to Partners
If you have trouble thinking of what to say at any time in labor, it is always appropriate to say, “I love you.” My husband didn’t start saying this wonderful sentence until I started pushing in my first labor. He probably said it about ten times altogether. Every time he said it, I felt a rush of warmth through my body that lightened the pain considerably. In everyday life I like to hear that he loves me, but the words don’t have quite the same magic. In labor it was like my own private epidural.
